Elections at Lauda

Letter addressed to the colleagues at Lauda for the union elections

Hello everyone,

I’m Gabi. I’m writing this, not as a representative of any initials, but as someone who, just like you, knows what it feels like to be exhausted by a demanding operation and frustrated when our voice doesn’t always reach where it should.

Som Sindicalistes Balears was born from something very simple and, at the same time, very powerful: we are not satisfied. Many of us feel that the representation we’ve had until now has not been enough.

That’s why we’ve decided to take this step. We are not politicians; we are colleagues who want things to be managed responsibly, consistently, and with the benefit of absolutely everyone in mind.

Why are we asking for your trust? Because we’re not going to promise miracles that don’t depend on us. What we can promise is commitment and presence. We want to be the communication bridge that is missing today, and work on things that truly change how we feel when we arrive at the base:

  • Fair pay: A necessary salary increase and a bonus for seasonal permanent staff to compensate for the effort of temporary residence.

  • Valuing your time: Being paid for the scheduled hour. If you are available for the company, that time must be valued, regardless of whether the flight ends up being shorter or not.

  • Quality of life: Limiting ADs per month and allowing real flexibility with STBY (1st and 5th day). We need life outside the airport to be possible too.

  • Recognition: A per‑flight‑day bonus that rewards those who show up every day and get the job done.

A final personal reflection

In the coming days, you’ll see many messages. Some will try to convince you by pointing out others’ mistakes or by using fear and discredit against other unions.

Honestly, we believe our work is far too serious to turn it into an exchange of reproaches. Anyone who spends their energy attacking others is taking energy away from defending your rights. We choose elegance and respect: we prefer our proposals and our consistency to speak for us.

We are here to represent all of you—quietly, through work, and with the truth up front.

A warm embrace,

Gabi Som Sindicalistes Balears
